Healing Movement is a fitness program developed to incorporate gentle, flowing, low-impact forms of exercise to improve and maintain health, let go of stress and reverse the effects of aging.
The exercises offered in the Healing Movement classes are grounded in the ancient healing systems of Tai Chi (Grand Ultimate) and Qigong (Vitality Cultivation), and have been translated into a joyful program ideally suited to modern needs.
Harvard Health Publications states: “In the slow-motion, mind-body practices of Tai Chi and Qigong, you move without pausing through a series of motions. As you move, you breathe deeply and naturally, focusing your attention—as in some kinds of meditation—on your bodily sensations. Tai Chi and Qigong differ from other types of exercise in several respects. The movements are usually circular and never forced, the muscles are relaxed rather than tensed, the joints are not fully extended or bent, and connective tissues are not stretched.
