Eternal Strength classes offer personalized instruction, hands-on corrections and a joyful, respectful learning environment.

In addition to form instruction, our classes focus on neigong (inner work) components for health, vitality and internal power cultivation, including:

  • Bending, Stretching, Twisting and Alignments – Safely increase tone, structural integrity, energy flow, graceful movement, balance and resilience.
  • Whole Body Breathing for Long Life – These simple, profound practices will calm your nervous system and enable you to deeply relax, improve the functioning of your internal organs and cell metabolism and increase the felt-sense of qi (energy/life force) in your body.  Breathing well will help you effectively manage stress and dramatically increase your health and well-being.
  • Opening and Closing (Pulsing) – The process of expanding (opening) and condensing (closing) energy, is a naturally occurring phenomenon that occurs throughout the macro and micro universe. The process of pulsing energy in the joints and cavities of the body positively stimulates the interstitial and synovial fluids and increases the fullness of life force energy. Learning the process of pulsing will help you release layers of tension, decrease pain and create improved resilience and health, restoring balance, harmony and integrated wholeness.
  • Embodying the Five Elements – Develop a ‘felt-sense’ of these elemental forces, and bring balance and harmony to the Five Elements within your body, mind, emotions, energy and spirit.
  • Inhabiting Joy – Cultivating true joy is a simple practice that profoundly transforms ones life.  This practice infuses everything we teach as it establishes a healing, expansive atmosphere within and connects us with our True Self.

Qigong is one of the most powerful self-healing traditions developed in human history. Those who use Qigong faithfully tend to need less medication, less acupuncture and heal faster. The primary mechanism that is activated by one’s practice of Qigong is a spontaneous balancing and enhancing of the natural healing resources in the human system. Over thousands of years, millions of people have received the benefit of these gentle practices, believing that improving the flow and function of the chi (life force energy) reverses the effects of aging and empowers you to reclaim health and joy in your life.

Dragon & Tiger Qigong is a 1500 year old form of medical qigong comprised of seven movements that can quickly give practitioners a recognizable feeling of qi in their bodies.  Similar to acupuncture, Dragon & Tiger uses the hands and simple body movements to stimulate and balance qi flow along specific points and channels throughout the body.  Dragon & Tiger Qigong is one of the forms taught in our Qigong for Healers program.

Healing Hands Qigong is a profound and beautiful form encompassing  qi cultivation practices that ground and strengthen the quality and flow of life force energy within the practitioner.  Dedicated practice cultivates the ability to emit powerful healing energy for the benefit of all beings as well as the Earth itself.  The techniques learned in this form will greatly benefit your own health and well-being, and will over time bring increased awareness, sensitivity and wisdom. 

Healing Hands Qigong is part of our Qigong For Healers program and may be practiced alone or in a group as part of a healing circle.

Tai Chi Chuan translates as “Supreme Ultimate Boxing.”  Practicing Tai Chi Chuan builds health and well being in many profound ways, including:  vitality,  meditative focus, inner peace, flexibility, resilience of mind and body, internal power and joy in life!  Because Tai Chi deeply relaxes and releases the nervous system, it is the perfect remedy for stress and stress-related disease. Tai Chi Chuan and Qigong movements powerfully increase the circulation and nutritive flow of blood, fluid and energy to all the connective tissues, increasing tone, elasticity, flexibility, and bone, joint and organ health!

Daily practice of the component practices and forms taught in this class will promote the unobstructed flow of qi (vital energy) and stimulate the internal hydraulic systems of the body. These exercises will also slow the aging process by stimulating the natural healing functions of the body, calm the mind and central nervous system, strengthen the body, tone and vitalize the internal organs, loosen the joints, increase energy, improve balance and enliven the spirit.

Practicing Tai Chi and Qigong is highly beneficial as a means of maintaining optimal health and healing from injury or illness.  It is a great complement to your other sport and life activities.

Out of the mists of time, from ancient China, comes one of the most comprehensive systems of Qigong ever taught. . .

Primordial Qigong (Wuji Tai Chi) is a profoundly beautiful and powerful system of health and wellness reportedly developed by Chang San Feng (the creator of Tai Chi Chuan) during the 13th Century. Primordial Qigong encompasses all of the primary aspects of Taoist philosophy: the concepts of yin and yang, the Taoist trinity (heaven, earth and man), the Five Element theory of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the I Ching, the Bagua and the mystical aspects of numbers. Healing Movement is a fitness program developed to incorporate gentle, flowing, low-impact forms of exercise to maintain and improve health and well being, strengthen immunity, increase lung capacity, improve balance, let go of stress, reverse the effects of aging and increase joy in life!

The exercises are grounded in the ancient healing systems of Tai Chi (Grand Ultimate) and Qigong (Vitality Cultivation), and have been translated into a joyful program ideally suited to modern needs.  This program is open to everyone, and is particularly suited to older adults.

Harvard Health Publications states:  “In the slow-motion, mind-body practices of Tai Chi and Qigong, you move without pausing through a series of motions.  As you move, you breathe deeply and naturally, focusing your attention–as in some kinds of meditation–on your bodily sensations.  Tai Chi and Qigong differ from other types of exercise in several respects.  The movements are usually circular and never forced, the muscles are relaxed rather than tensed, the joints are not fully extended or bent, and connective tissues aare not stretched.  Tai Chi can be easily adapted for anyone, from the most fit to people confined to wheelchairs or recovering from surgery. . . .Tai Chi could be the perfect activity for the rest of your life!”

Following in the healing traditions of our teachers and lineage, our classes are normally held outdoors at beautiful Gerstle Park in San Rafael.  During the winter months, our classes are offered livestream.

Gerstle Park is located on the corner of San Rafael Ave. and Clark St. Please enter the main entrance to the park on San Rafael Ave.  Walk up the steps and follow the central path to the top of the grassy area.
