"From stillness comes awareness, from stillness and awareness comes sensitivity, from the integration of stillness, awareness and sensitivity, wisdom arises." --Donald Rubbo
Join us for an afternoon exploring the quietude and flow of Tai Chi Chuan and Qigong winter practices. This is the first of three workshops to be offered this year that will delve deeply into the above precious teaching given us by our teacher.
In this workshop, we will address the first aspect of the teaching, "From Stillness Comes Awareness." The practices that will be covered are designed to quiet the mind, deepen awareness, be more present, relax the body, release stress, and collect and store vital energy, including:
-
Deep Natural Breathing (calm the nervous system, release stress, improve the functioning of the internal organs and increase vital energy throughout the body)
-
Taoist Yoga (gentle stretching to open the physical body and increase the flow and function of life force energy)
-
Standing/Sitting (align the body, open up and balances the energy channels, increase health of mind and body)
-
Dissolving (the process of melting away obstructions in the body, mind, emotions and energy - increase the felt sense of internal space, freedom, peace and joy)
We will also incorporate gentle, flowing Qigong movements with an emphasis on the water element and the kidneys (the element and organ of winter) to align ourselves with the restorative energies of the season and prepare the way for the new beginnings of spring.
Come away from this workshop feeling relaxed, renewed, centered and vitalized. As part of our 2012 celebration of Primordial Qigong, we will also focus on movements from the Primordial Qigong form that are of particular benefit to the kidneys.
$75.00 after January 23, 2012. Early registration price of $60.00 if paid before then.
Excellent for beginning, intermediate and advanced practitioners.
